Nashville AI companies and vendors: a working map for business buyers

Nashville AI companies cluster in four places: healthcare software (UnityAI, Optura, Qualifacts, HealthStream), vertical platforms for trades, finance and music (XOi, Built, Ncontracts, Muserk), an early-stage bench from the Entrepreneur Center, and a few national firms with Nashville offices. Below is every one I could verify, sorted by what a business buyer would use it for, plus the consultants, the big local adopters and the ecosystem.

One disclosure. I run Working Model, a new Nashville AI consulting and training firm, so I am a participant in this market. I checked every company below against its own site or a primary news source in September 2026. The directories that rank for this search are not reliable: Clutch lists Vancouver's Wizard Labs and Poland's MasterBorn as Nashville AI companies, and Built In's list leads with PwC and Optum. Everything here has a verified headquarters or staffed office in Middle Tennessee.

Which healthcare AI companies are based in Nashville?

Healthcare is where Nashville's AI product companies are deepest, because the customers (HCA, Ardent, Lifepoint, CHS, Acadia) are down the street in Davidson and Williamson counties.

Company What it does Where Stage or size (source) URL

If you run a physician group, home health agency or behavioral health operator in Middle Tennessee, this is the shortlist, and most of these vendors will meet you in person.

Which AI platform and software companies are built in Nashville?

Outside healthcare, the pattern is vertical software: a company that knows one industry cold and has added AI to the workflow it already owns. Two national AI companies also have staffed Nashville offices.

Three of these are directly useful to readers of this blog: XOi for mechanical and electrical contractors, Built for the banks and builders financing Middle Tennessee construction, Ncontracts for community banks and credit unions. In those industries the local vendor is a cheap first call.

Which AI startups in Nashville are worth watching?

The Nashville Entrepreneur Center's spring 2026 accelerator took in 88 founders across 71 companies, 22 of them in the Project Healthcare track, and about half of that track is AI-first. These are pre-seed and seed companies: pilot partners, not vendors of record.

Which large Nashville companies are already running AI?

Customers, not vendors, but they set the local standard and train the people you will hire next. More in what Nashville's AI rollouts mean for mid-market companies.

Company HQ What is public Source
HCA Healthcare Nashville Nurse-handoff AI built with Google, about 400,000 handoffs a week; AI staffing in nearly 100 hospitals; ambient documentation in 100-plus hospitals Fierce Healthcare; Capital Analytics
Ardent Health Nashville Enterprise rollout of Ambience ambient AI after a pilot cut documentation time 45% Ardent
Lifepoint Health Brentwood Selected Nashville's iScribeHealth as AI scribe, January 2026 PR Newswire
Community Health Systems Franklin Pairing ERP upgrades with AI-driven cost reduction Becker's
Acadia Healthcare Franklin Reported to have followed HCA with its own deployments; no public detail Capital Analytics
Tractor Supply Brentwood "Hey GURA" generative AI assistant in all 2,200-plus stores; computer vision in 100-plus CIO
Asurion Nashville May 2026 growth strategy framed "with AI as our foundation" for tech-care support PR Newswire
AllianceBernstein Nashville First Chief AI Officer, July 2024; internal ABAI gateway for vetted models InnoLead

Two things from that table travel to the mid-market. HCA's CFO put administrative use cases on "the shortest pathway to value" and said HCA must be "just as good at implementation and change management" as at building tools. And across the ten largest public healthcare operators with Nashville footprints, software and AI spend rose as a share of capex for four straight quarters.

Who runs the Nashville AI ecosystem?

For a buyer, the useful doors are Vanderbilt's Amplify center for a structured pilot and GNTC to meet CIOs who have already done what you are about to do.

How big is Nashville's tech and AI labor market?

Large for tech, small for AI specifically, growing fast on both. That is why most Middle Tennessee companies will upskill the people they have rather than hire an AI team.

Measure Figure Source
Technology jobs in the Nashville region 65,000, with $8.9B economic impact; median tech pay $100,856 Chamber 2026 Economic Overview
Tech job growth 29.6% from 2019 to 2024; projected 18% through 2027 against 11% nationally Chamber 2026 Economic Overview
Open tech positions in Middle Tennessee 8,000, with 40,000-plus tech professionals and a 35% rise in postings from 2020 to 2023 Nashville.gov, October 2025
AI-specific job postings 176 in January 2025, 27th among U.S. metros; New York had about 2,000 Axios Nashville, April 2025
Brookings AI classification "Emerging Center," one of 14 metros; the group's AI postings grew 88% from 2018 to 2025 Teknovation on Brookings, July 2025

A 200-person logistics company in Wilson County is not going to outbid HCA or AllianceBernstein for the 176 people in the AI postings pool. It is going to train its ops analysts, estimators and billing team, which is what the Tennessee IWT grant subsidizes.

How to use this map of Nashville AI companies: local product, local firm or national platform?

The question is which layer of the problem you are solving.

Situation Best fit Why
A Nashville vendor already owns your industry's workflow (behavioral health EHR, construction draws, HVAC service, bank compliance, music royalties) Buy the local product The AI is embedded in software you would buy anyway, and someone can come on site when adoption stalls
You need general productivity: writing, summarizing, meeting notes, document search National platform: Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, Claude, Gemini No local company will out-build these; your problem is adoption and governance
You have Copilot or ChatGPT seats and nothing to show for them Local firm for training and workflow redesign A people problem; a firm on Charlotte Avenue beats a Zoom call from Warsaw
You need a custom agent or an ERP or CRM integration Local automation shop or regional firm, scoped in writing Cheap to pilot; insist on named staff, acceptance criteria and a maintenance plan
You are a 50 to 1,000-person company deciding where AI fits at all Readiness assessment first, then a fractional Chief AI Officer if the roadmap has more than two workstreams Buying tools before you have a use-case list is how the Copilot seats went idle

Two rules of thumb from running software companies. A vendor's willingness to publish price, team and customers is the best proxy for how it behaves after you sign; most Nashville AI companies above pass, and most "Nashville AI agencies" that rank on Google do not. And the local adopters have shown where value starts: administrative work and documentation, where data is clean and the workflow repeats.

Are there notable Tennessee AI companies outside Nashville?

A few matter to Middle Tennessee buyers. Lirio in Knoxville sells a behavioral-science and agentic AI engagement platform to health systems and life sciences companies (October 2025 release). The University of Tennessee's Tennessee MEP runs AI readiness days and a 16-week AI in Manufacturing certificate for plants statewide. The UT-led AI Tennessee Summit met at the Country Music Hall of Fame in March 2026.

Frequently asked questions

How many AI companies are in Nashville?

By a strict count of companies headquartered here that sell an AI-driven product, roughly 25 to 30, concentrated in healthcare software and vertical platforms for trades, construction finance, banking compliance and music rights. The Entrepreneur Center bench and national firms with Nashville offices roughly double that. Directory counts of 50 or more include out-of-state firms.

Which are the largest AI companies in Nashville?

Among companies headquartered here, HealthStream (NASDAQ: HSTM), Qualifacts (2,200-plus customer organizations), Ncontracts (5,000-plus financial institutions), Built (86,000-plus active projects) and XOi (KKR-backed) are the most established. Metropolis Technologies, which raised $1.6 billion in 2025, has a large Nashville office but is headquartered in Santa Monica.

What healthcare AI companies are in Nashville?

UnityAI (agentic operations), Optura (AI investment tracking), HealthStream (workforce learning), Qualifacts (behavioral health EHR), EvidenceCare (clinical decision support), Trilliant Health (analytics), iScribeHealth (ambient documentation), CopilotIQ (in-home care), Healthpilot (Medicare enrollment), ImageAssist (clinical photography) and Emids (healthcare AI services). All were verified in September 2026.

Should a Middle Tennessee company buy from a local AI vendor?

Buy local when a Nashville vendor already owns the workflow for your industry, because the AI comes embedded in software you need anyway and support is in your time zone. Use a national platform for general productivity. Hire a local firm when the problem is adoption, training or governance rather than software. Ask any vendor for named staff, named customers and written acceptance criteria.

Is Nashville a good place to hire AI talent?

It is a strong tech market and a thin AI market. The region has about 65,000 tech jobs and 8,000 open tech roles, but only 176 AI-specific postings in January 2025, 27th among U.S. metros. Brookings classifies Nashville as an "Emerging Center" for AI. Plan to train existing staff, and use the Tennessee IWT grant to offset the cost.
